What is Belief Coding?

If you’d like to explore whether Belief Coding® might help, I’d love to hear from you. Get in touch to arrange a free initial consultation.

If you’ve found yourself caught in patterns that won’t shift – the same situation cropping up in different relationships, the inner critical voice that won’t quiet down, or the sense that something keeps holding you back – Belief Coding may be exactly what you’ve been looking for.

Belief Coding is one of the most powerful tools I use, yet it’s still relatively unknown. This page is here to introduce it gently and share how I weave it into sessions alongside hypnotherapy and coaching.

So, what is Belief Coding?

Belief Coding® is a researched, science-backed therapeutic modality that works directly with the unconscious beliefs that quietly shape how we think, feel, and behave. Beliefs like “I’m not good enough,” “I’ll be rejected if I speak up,” or “people like me don’t get to have that” can drive long-standing patterns, no matter how much our conscious mind knows better.

It combines neuroscience, psychology, kinesiology, and somatic work to surface those beliefs, gently release the emotion attached, and code in something kinder and more accurate in their place.

How does a Belief Coding session work?

A session typically combines a body scan, emotion tracing, and reframing. We begin by identifying a belief that’s been getting in your way – often something you’ve sensed for a while but haven’t been able to shift on your own.

I’ll then guide you through a process that gently explores how the belief is held in your body and emotions, traces it back to where it began, and releases the feelings attached to it. We then code in a new, truer belief to take its place.

Unlike hypnotherapy, you don’t need to enter a deep trance for Belief Coding. You stay fully aware throughout, and you’re an active part of the work.

What can Belief Coding help with?

Belief coding tends to work especially well for the patterns that keep repeating themselves, no matter how much you understand them on a conscious level. Things clients come to me to work on include:

  • Recurring patterns in relationships
  • Self-sabotage – getting close to something good and pulling away
  • Imposter syndrome
  • Money blocks – discomfort around earning, charging, or receiving
  • The inner critical voice
  • Persistent low self-worth or confidence issues
  • Anxiety and fear of failure
  • Patterns around eating, weight, or body image

If you’ve already tried talking therapy or coaching and you understand a pattern intellectually but can’t seem to shift it, Belief Coding may be the missing piece.

How is Belief Coding different from hypnotherapy?

This is a question I get asked a lot. Both work below the level of conscious awareness, but they go about it differently.

Hypnotherapy uses a state of deep relaxation – a gentle trance – to communicate with your subconscious mind, encouraging it to take on new, more helpful patterns.

Belief coding works on the belief structures themselves, while you remain fully aware. It’s a more precise process – locating a specific belief, exploring its roots, and rewriting it.

Neither is better. They simply do different jobs, and they work beautifully together – which is how I tend to use them.

How I use Belief Coding in my practice

Rather than offering Belief Coding on its own, I weave it into a broader session alongside coaching and hypnotherapy. Each modality brings something different, and combining them often gives the most powerful, lasting results.

A typical session might begin with coaching to understand what’s going on for you, move into hypnotherapy to access the subconscious, and use Belief Coding to work with specific beliefs that come to the surface.

What it can feel like

Because Belief Coding works directly with the emotion attached to a belief, sessions can sometimes bring old feelings to the surface. Please know this is held gently, and you’ll never be pushed beyond what feels safe for you.

Most clients describe feeling lighter after a session, sometimes a little tired in the way you are after meaningful inner work, and often clearer on something they’ve been carrying for years.
